About this event

Nitrogen and phosphate containing fertilizers are abundantly available in garden stores and are frequently recommended by the
manufacturers for our home lawns, gardens and indoor plants. But are they really good for us and our environments in the short run and in the long term?

Join us for a discussion and presentation on practices and plants that can alleviate our over-dependence on chemical fertilizers. This
discussion is aimed at non-scientists and questions are welcomed
throughout.

The presenter is (Dr.) Becca Dickstein, a scientist and retired
biochemistry/molecular biology Professor first at Drexel University and subsequently at University of North Texas. Her research focused on nitrogen and sustainability.
